Radiation Therapy

Here at Beverly Hills Thermal Medicine, we offer advanced Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) Radiation treatment delivery system by Varian Medical Systems.  Our Linear Accelerator, offers laser alignment positioning to match a patient's anatomy during treatment to the planning CT scan. Additionally, our system is equipped with onboard X-Ray and CT to allow for real time image acquisition for the most precise treatment alignment. Precise alignment and advanced IMRT allow us to expertly contour the radiation beam to the tumor margins, and limit radiation exposure to healthy tissues.

IMRT has been proven to reduce side effects as well as greatly improve survival.  After 40 months of follow-up, the outcome of survival for those treated with IMRT was 38.9 percent, compared to 18.9 percent for those who were treated with conventional radiation techniques(1). Additionally, here at BHTM we add hyperthermia treatments when applicable, which have shown to further improve response and survival.  See the Clinical Trial Results graph Here and scroll down the page.

Health insurance

Health insurance is insurance against the risk of incurring medical expenses among individuals. By estimating the overall risk of health care and health system expenses, among a targeted group, an insurer can develop a routine finance structure, such as a monthly premium or payroll tax, to ensure that money is available to pay for the health care benefits specified in the insurance agreement. The benefit is administered by a central organization such as a government agency, private business, or not-for-profit entity. According to the Health Insurance Association of America, health insurance is defined as "coverage that provides for the payments of benefits as a result of sickness or injury. Includes insurance for losses from accident, medical expense, disability, or accidental death and dismemberment"

Best Questions to Ask Your Doctor When You Get a Cancer Diagnosis

Here are some questions that are often forgotten, but are important to ask:

What is the extent or stage of the cancer I have?
What is my prognosis?
What are my treatment options? What treatment(s) do you suggest?
Why do you favor this treatment over others?
When will my treatment start, and how long will it last?
Can I continue working? How will treatment affect daily living?
Would a clinical trial be appropriate for me?
What will happen if I choose not to have treatment?
How long will I have to continue regular check-ups after treatment?
What are the associated financial costs, and will my insurance cover the recommended treatment?
Would you object to me getting a second opinion?
