Our Linear Accelerator, offers laser alignment positioning to match a patient's anatomy during treatment to the planning CT scan. Additionally, our system is equipped with onboard X-Ray and CT to allow for real time image acquisition for the most precise treatment alignment. Precise alignment and advanced IMRT allow us to expertly contour the radiation beam to the tumor margins, and limit radiation exposure to healthy tissues.
IMRT has been proven to reduce side effects as well as greatly improve survival. After 40 months of follow-up, the outcome of survival for those treated with IMRT was 38.9 percent, compared to 18.9 percent for those who were treated with conventional radiation techniques(1). Additionally, here at BHTM we add hyperthermia treatments when applicable, which have shown to further improve response and survival.
